Mirijam Strehlau Mode - home

Now living in India, Miriam is inspired by indian handcrafted fabrics. Recycling  sarees, the use of organic herbal dyed fabrics as well as the use of typically handcrafted materials like 'khadi' quickly became her trademarks.

With an open heart for Indian bazaars Miriam is transforming blankets, patchworking embroidery pieces like Bandani mirror works from Rajastan, integrating vintage clothes and sarees into new shapes and usages.

Taking an item out of its context, cutting it up and adding bits from her own background: contemporary materials like netting or Goa-style fluorescent trimmings  give her garments the european edge that appeals to the global aspect of the newly emerging indian market.
